As we all know Lahore is fast progressing in the field of economics being Pakistan’s second most prominent financial spot only after Karachi.
This resulted in an influx of people coming in to the city for trade and living purposes both that finally led to an increase in pressure of transportation and mobility of masses.

To resolve this issue, the government has taken some steps to facilitate the masses and some mega projects are on the run in Lahore.
The construction work on these mega projects which is estimated to be worth Rs. 20.5 billion will begin by the end of April 2021. The preparation such as bidding, contracts and transfer of funds is on the go.
The top 4 mega projects to be launched could be listed as follows:
1. Underpasses construction at Gulab Devi Hospital
Underpasses will be built at the Gulab Devi junction on Ferozepur road. It will be the first construction underpass next to the metro bus corridor, which is estimated to be worth 1.10 billion Pakistani rupees.
If you are already residing in Lahore, you must be aware of the fact that traffic congestion near Gulab Devi Hospital is a painful process. This road connects Model Town with Defence and Gulberg and all the way to Kasur. Construction of an underpass near Gulab Devi Hospital is the pipeline which will help divert the traffic and allow a smoother traffic flow.

• Cost: Around PKR 2 Billion
2. A flyover at Sheranwala Gate
Sheranwala gate was built in the Mughual era so naturally, the traffic situation greately differs today. Its old name was Khizri gate. Sheranwala Gate is one of the thirteen gates of old Lahore.
The road network near this Gate is highly congested and needs immediate solutions. Thus a 1-kilometre-long flyover has been planned to be constructed here. The flyover will stretch from the Naulakha police station upto Sheranwala Gate.
On an average, about 121,421 vehicles use this route on a daily basis.
The new fly-over will not only improve the traffic flow but minimize the congestion of traffic in the area.

3. A flyover at Shahkam Chowk
A project of setting up of overhead bridge at Shahkam Chowk will also be started which will cost Rs 1.5 billion. The construction of an overhead bridge will solve traffic problems at Shahkam Chowk.
A flyover on Shahkam Chowk is also expected to lessen the traffic flow and stops which will make the life of citizens in the area.
Once the flyover is ready, it will facilitate people who choose their routes on 3 Link Canal Road (Thokar to Shahkam Chowk). The road will also conect to Bahria Town Lahore, Defence Road Mohlanwal Stop.

• Cost: PKR 4.349 Billion
4. Five underpasses on The Mall
For the convenience of the public and ensure a smooth traffic flow in the city, the government is working on five underpasses at different major intersections in the city.
Two single barrel passes will be constructed on the Davis Road and the Governor House. Three double barrel underpasses are also to be constructed at Anarkali Chowk, at Charing Cross and Regal Chowk.
The construction of these underpasses alongside signal free corridors will enable commuters cover long distances without much hassle.

• Cost: PKR 7.5 Billion
The above mentioned mega projects are reportedly being approved for launch.
Lahore Development Authority is responsible for the progress of these projects.
Further it has been decided in principle to launch these projects in the city, as the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has been entrusted with the task to accomplish them under a fast-track plan. Since these mega development projects in Lahore will be in the construction phase by the end of April, the property values surrounding these areas are bound to increase.
